Welcome to Dance Force-1. We are pleased that you have selected our studio and would like to share our policies with you. These basic rules are in place to make sure we provide you with the finest service possible.

Our studio provides a variety of dance classes for students, ages 12 months to adult. Styles include jazz, ballet, pointe, tap, lyrical, hip hop, tumbling, pre-school combination, and "Mommy and Me" dance. Skill levels range from beginner to advanced in all dance specialties. Although students are placed in levels based on age, skill level will play a significant role in class level placement. Each class consists of 55 minutes of instruction and 5 minutes for optional questions and comments. This allows the instructor personal time to speak with parents and students without interfering with the next class. All classes are subject to cancellation due to enrollment.

The annual registration fee per student is $20 (maximum $55 per family).

Attendance is taken at each class and trophies are given at the recital for perfect attendance. You must attend all regularly scheduled classes in at least one discipline to qualify. Good attendance is imperative, as absences and tardiness can hold back an entire class, and the studio cannot jeopardize its responsibilities to the rest of the class for one student. Please make every effort to have your child at every class. Missed classes may be made up within three weeks in the same or lower level.

Dance Force-1 does not carry medical insurance for its students. It is required that all dance students be covered by their own family insurance policies and if injury occurs it is understood that the student's own policy is your only source of reimbursement.

Dance requires discipline and dedication. In order to make our learning environment safe and to maximize the learning potential for each student, the instructors will teach consistently with the following policies:
Students must have the proper shoes for the type of dance class they are enrolled in. This will help maximize their dance potential. Please ask the director or instructor for preferred brand, color, and style before purchasing shoes. Dance shoes should be worn indoors only.
Students should wear form fitting dance attire and long hair should be secured back from the face and neck. We have a very liberal dress code, as we feel bright colors and fun attire can encourage enthusiasm, however, we ask that midriffs be covered. All ballet students must wear tights and a leotard with hair pulled back in a bun for class. In the event that a dancer arrives to class dressed inappropriately, we reserve the right to dismiss them from class.
Punctuality is extremely important for each student. Missing out on a proper warm up at the beginning of class can lead to serious injuries. Students over ten minutes late may be asked to observe the class.
Gum chewing is not permitted in the classroom as it poses a choking hazard. In addition, eating and drinking are not allowed in the classroom; however, having snacks in the lobby is permitted. Please be sure to pick up after yourself.
Students are expected to listen and follow instruction. If a student is distracting others and/or bullying, they will be asked to leave the classroom or sit in time-out. If the problem continues the dancer will be expelled from the class and possibly the studio. Please review the importance of this with your child prior to participating in a dance program.
Parents may observe classes from the viewing windows. If a parent has a specific concern and would like to observe the class, please see the instructor.
It is the instructor's goal to provide a learning environment that is positive for the students. Encouragement of fellow dancers is also expected and appreciated. If, for any reason, a parent has a concern regarding the instruction, please see the Director.
If your child has a medical condition that the instructor should be aware of, please bring it to his/her attention. This allows the instructors to have a better understanding of your child's capabilities.
No smoking is allowed in or in front of our facility.

Students are invited and encouraged to participate in our 9th annual recital. Tentative date is June 2012. The mandatory dress rehearsal will tentatively be held TBA. The recital gives the dancers an opportunity to shine and show their accomplishments to family and friends. All dancers will be considered participants unless we are notified. The cost is not included in tuition and students will be required to buy costumes. Costume prices range between $65 and $100 per costume. A $60 costume deposit is due with November tuition and the balance is due with March tuition. Families pay a $50 recital fee. Student accounts must be in good standing in order to participate in the recital. We reserve the right to dismiss a student from performing in the recital without refund if the student does not attend the dress rehearsal and/or class attendance becomes poor, especially the months prior to the recital.

Video taping during our year-end recital is not allowed. The recital will be taped using professional equipment, and copies will be available at a reasonable price. Still pictures are allowed; however, flash photography is not for safety reasons.

We are excited to bring in a professional photographer who will take individual and group pictures in May (date TBA). The director will help place and pose the students so that each student's individual talents and abilities are displayed. It is important that all dancers be included in the group picture because they will be displayed in the studio lobby and/or recital program. It is our way of presenting teamwork and we would like all students to be part of the Dance Force-1 family.

Kids (and parents) can have a birthday blast at Dance Force-1. The 2 hour Saturday or Sunday parties feature a professionally trained instructor leading the children in exercise, dance, tumbling, and games. Theme parties are available too. We provide a clean, safe atmosphere for fun activities, opening presents, and refreshments. For only $15 per child, you can treat yourself (and your kids) to a unique experience that will be long remembered. We will decorate, give each child a party favor, and present the birthday child with a special gift from us! All you have to do is provide refreshments! A minimum of 8 children is required.
